Now that the winds have died down, I had the opportunity to check out the C-111 area including Lucky Hammock with Audrey Whitlock at 7:00 am. We failed to locate any of the Vermilion Flycatchers at the canal structure, and on the entire length of fence to Aerojet Road. However, three Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were seen with an accompanying Western Kingbird on the power lines at the entrance of Aerojet Road. Large quantities of Savannah and Grasshopper Sparrows were seen in the fields just north of Aerojet Road along with a few flocks of 400+ Red-winged Blackbirds. Lucky Hammock produced the following species:
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Red-shouldered Hawk
American Kestrel
Red-tailed Hawk
Northern Harrier
Pileated Woodpecker - at the Annex
Eastern Phoebe
Great-Crested Flycatcher
Loggerheaded Shrike
White-eyed Vireo
Blue Jay
American Crow
Tree Swallow
Cave Swallow
House Wren
Northern Mockingbird
Gray Catbird
Palm Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Cedar Waxwing
Savannah Sparrow
Grasshopper Sparrow
Northern Cardinal
Painted Bunting
Indigo Bunting
Red-winged Blackibird
