Arch Creek Park had an interesting assortment of migrants on Thursday morning that included 12 species of warblers. Some of the highlights include:
Chestnut-sided Warblers - 2 (1 adult male, 1 imm)- Low shrubs
Swainson Warbler - 1 (first heard and then seen)- dense hammock
Tennesee Warbler - 2
Magnolia Warbler - 1
Parula Warbler - 4
Black & White W. - 4
Cm. Yellowthroat - 6
Black-throated Blue W. - 7
Am. Redstart - 5
Prairie Warbler - 3
Yellow-throated W. - 1
Ovenbird - 8
Red-eyed Vireo - 3
White-eyed Vireo - 1
Swainson's Thrush - 2 (Feeding on Strangler fig fruit)
Scarlet Tanager - 1 (Feeding on Strangler fig fruit)
Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 (Strangler fig)
Catbirds - many!
Brown Thrasher - (Feeding on Strangler fig)
Painted Buntings - 2 (males)
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds- 6 (seen in live oaks & Hamelia bush)
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2
Swainson's Hawk -1 spectacular adult soaring over the park
Good birding along the hammock and butterfly garden trails. Park gates open at 9:00am.
