The pic hits me as a Whip also however this bird was at least 12" and looked more rufous than the pic. Also I think one of the pics showed the dark streaking on the head vs a dark median crown stripe. The size really dictated the ID. I didn't get my 1st Chuck last year until 3/15 when they were calling.
