25 to 35 MPH gusty winds with threatening skies do not make for a great birding day (nor a great bird photography day). But 19 diehards went birding anyway today and we ended up with a respectable 57 species.

Our currently-resident Painted Buntings (photo of the day) were still present and a lone Brown-headed Cowbird was a new addition to the year list. Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were noticeably fewer today and are probably already on the move north. Also on the move was one group of American Robins and three fly-bys of Cedar Waxwings (probably the same group but who knows).

It was a slow day but what the hey.
