I birded Barnes from 11 to noon, after the worst of the showers, and lucked out almost immediately: My third-ever Swainson's Warbler was foraging on the ground about halfway between the hostel (what to call this?) and the nature center (opposite the two benches). Later on by the boardwalk, I saw several Swainson's Thrushes (with a Gray-cheeked!). Swainson's Hawk would have given me a hat trick!

Also present were many Pine, Parula, Black-throated-blue, and Black-and-White Warblers and Ovenbirds, and one each Redstart, Red-eyed and White-eyed Vireo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Brown Thrasher, Catbird, and flyby female Bunting (looked more like Indigo).

Good birding,
Susan
