Thick-billed Vireo YES 9 Oct 04 PM

The Thick-billed Vireo showed up at about 4:15 PM today, between poles 14 and 15. Specifically, it flew into a small wind-thrown Poisonwood tree about 20 yards north of pole 15 (west side of road). It stayed only for a few minutes, but provided crippling looks before flying off into the Buttonwood scrub farther away from the road. It appeared at about the same time as a few Palm Warblers and Red-eyed Vireos (avian activity in general definitely picked up after 4 PM).

Thanks to the photos posted by John, Larry, and Jeff B. we knew instantly "this is it" as soon as the bird flew in. Many thanks to Jeff Palmer for getting the word out this AM.
