Viera Wetland showed hundreds of coots, three osprey and a multitude of anhinga, Great Blue Herons, nesting in the tops of dead cabbage palms. The nest were flimsy, very small but each cabbage palm had a nest. Sort of clever of the birds as no mamallian predators to worry about. Another interesting aspect of the many rafts of coots was the imbedded Northern Shoveler in each raft. Generally two but some times only one. And the coup of the day was the mated pair of hooded merganzers. And they were very obliging for the photographers that were there. They stayed calm at 27 feet distance. Really didn't need the 600mm.
Savahnah sparrows were abundent as wer pine warblers.
Caper Kennedy was a poor show but high winds (pre-frontal) probably aadded to that. The winds were steady ay 25 gusting to 35. Many rafts of coots and a small group of avocets still not in breeding color were in the various water cells.
