I found a Red-necked Phalarope this morning on a lake in the Hammocks in West Kendall. It was on and near beach #19.

Although the lake area is for residents only, you are unlikely to be bothered by security unless you create a problem.

The nearest parking is at Black Creek Center, on the west side of SW 157th Ave. between SW 104th St. and 112th St. Once parked, walk back to the entrance and cross 157th Ave. Go through the gate to the lake east of 157th. When the asphalt path forks, go left (along the N side of the lake). The phalarope was at the first beach.

These beaches do get used, especially after school lets out, so the bird might not be present long.

I'll post a photo or two tonight.

I managed to scope it from my house, so it counts as a yard bird!
