I stopped at A D Barnes Park this afternoon, and birded in the nature center from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Seen were the following:
-Traill's Flycatcher. Here we go again. Seen near the vehicle entrance to the nature center, working low in the brush. It sat still just long enough for me to note the following: greenish above, grayish below, with buffy wing bars. remembering that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, I focused first on the primary projection. Not especially long, eliminating Eastern Wood Pewee. The bill was long and broad, eliminating Least Flycatcher. The eye ring was faint, probably eliminating Acadian Flycatcher. The bird appeared flat-headed. It did not call.
-Gray-cheeked Thrush(1) seen at the boardwalk.
-Swainson's Thrush(1) seen near the pond.
-Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1) female, seen behind the trailer.
-Painted Bunting (1) female, seen near the front of the nature center building.
-Six species of warblers: Parula, Prairie, Redstart, Ovenbird, Black-and-white, Black-throated Blue.
