Sorry for the double posting. The Red-tailed Hawk Larry mentioned is the darkest one I have ever seen here in Florida; so dark, the usual "V" patterned belly band I often see in Red-Tailed Hawks was indistinguishable. Albert Gonzalez and myself saw the bird on Saturday morning being mobbed by blackbirds and eventually perching on the tower east of the park grounds. Sibley's guide mentions how Florida populations of RT's show characteristics of the "western" race. This particular bird, I believe, was a pretty good example.
