It's strange that I'm having troubled identifying these sparrows, but I guess that the lack of frontal views is part of it. I think the bold eye-ring visible on one of the birds is mostly a photographic artifact. I'm guessing Field or White-crowned sparrows; they're certainly not House Sparrows.
