I stopped by Paurotis Pond this morning and saw at least 22 Wood Storks in the mangroves across the pond. At least on pair was engaged in courtship behaviour and appeared to copulate.

: Hi everyone,

: I'm a UF student and I've been working with wading birds in the
: Water Conservation Areas for the last couple of years.
: This year I'm starting a research project with
: juvenile survival and habitat use of Wood Storks and
: am curious if anyone's seen any nesting yet (other
: than at Corkscrew where I know things are really
: hopping). I'm moving down to Homestead in a week
: or so, but I just wanted to make sure they hadn't
: started nesting without me yet!

: Thanks,
: Becky
