I spent a couple of hours after work today at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park to see what birds these northeast
winds would blow in. The only pelagic birds were a Noddy flying south several hundred
yards out and a Jaeger just over the beach. The Jeager was an adult but it was past me
before I could get a good look at the tail. Some of the larger gulls were also passing
southward, I saw about twenty five mostly first year Herring Gulls, seven Lesser
Black-backed Gulls, and one Greater Black-backed Gull. There were about six Sandwich
Terns lingering with the Royals near the inlet but very few medium sized terns. The winds
are expected to continue through tomorrow.
