This afternoon, Audrey and I went to Castellow Hammock and found the "Rufous" Hummingbird, which was seen feeding on the Hong Kong Orchid Trees' flowers. Poor lighting and brief periods of rain made a positive ID questionable. The back of this bird was entirely green, and it had the spotting on the gorget and rufous sides. Questions were raised whether this may have also qualified for an Allen's Hummingbird. From there, we traveled to Palmetto Bay were we visited a friend who in the past, observed 20+ Red-whiskered Bulbuls on telephone wires in her back yard. However, true to Brian Rapozas predictions, rainy, cloudy days produce zero Bulbuls!
