Hey birders,

I first heard the La Sagra's (8:30am)when I was on the Nature Trail (at the end pt of the loop by the water), it flushed over my head and was gone. Later when I was walking the wider dirt trail (located on the west side just off the circular drive, past the bathrooms after you enter the park, sign says "Stay on marked trail"), I heard it give 5 calls. I realized I was across the waterway from the Nature Trail (this is definitely his territory). I was able to find it sitting midstory and luckily it was feeding & finally came over to my side of the "canal". I followed it but never got any good photos. This bird had no yellow that I could see. A Great-crested joined it later. I tied two short pink ribbons along the rt side (east)of the trail where I observed it. Don't look for the ribbons until you have passed 3 "Area Closed" barracades (one on the left and two on the rt). Now that I have confused everyone where to look, it was pretty slow birding overall. Other highlights: 9 WHITE-CROWNED PIGEONS, 2 WORM-EATING WARBLERS, 1 A. REDSTART, 1 B&W, only 3 N.PARULAS, 3 OVENBIRDS, & PALMS (NO YELLOW-RUMPS, weird) Catbirds, Gnatcatchers and WE Vireos were in abundance.
