This Sunday I went out with Mike Brothers and gang on a pelagic trip out of Mayport in search of any stray northern palagics in extreme north Florida. A recent report of 72 Razorbills off south Georgia had us really excited, but we unfortunately didn't find any. However, we did have what may be the highest single day's count of Manx Shearwaters for Florida, with 15-17 seen. There were lots of Common Loons all the way to 15 miles offshore, and several very large flocks of Bonaparte's Gulls feeding on baitfish being pushed to the surface by bonitos. The birds were keeping their distance despite the calm conditions, so getting good photos was tough. We had a nice assortment of birds, and capped things off with a fist-winter Iceland Gull in the inlet on our way in. A life bird for me, which I am just getting around to celebrating with an Avery Mephistopholes Stout. Here's the days list:

Manx Shearwater 15-17
Northern Gannett 250+
Red Phalarope 55+
Pomaraine Jaeger 2
Parasitic Jaeger 5
Bonaparte's Gull 2,000
ICELAND GULL (Yay! Sip.)
Common Loon 120
