Today I saw my first Limkin on the UM Campus in a grassy area
next to the canal by the Student Center. A student was looking at it wondering what it could be. It allowed me to approach it
to a distance of 8 feet or so which was also surprising.
Elane Neuhring had been reporting one at their home on Snapper Creek just west of 62nd Avenue recently, and David Lysinger had reprted one near their home in Coral Gables(east of Granada and north of Bird Road) in recent times.
I had seen the bird at the Charles Deering Estate a couple of years ago, but I still never expected them to become urban birds like the white ibis.
