Judd Patterson and I were meeting some friends from work to go see the flamingos at Lake Ingraham and do some fishing. We were leaving Florida City when we got the text about the Bar-tailed Godwit.
We got to the campground as soon as we could while it was still high tide. We went through 550 Willets, 85 Marbled Godwits, and a sprinkle of dowitchers; no Bar-tailed Godwit.
We headed out to Lake Ingraham and enjoyed viewing 19 American Flamingos up close, drank some Yuenglings and tried to figure out the number of shorebirds in the surrounding mudflats.
Good birding.
