Hey birders, On Mon, at 11am I stopped by H.A.Campbell on my way to Merritt Island . At the entrance to Campbell, 10 RW SWALLOWS were on the wire, I thought they didn't come back until March??!No big concentration of TREE SWALLOWS either. Walked 1 mile north after crossing the foot bridge to the 1st road only. HOT and WINDY. I was disappointed in the lack of duck species (RING-NECKED, BLUE-WINGED & GREEN WINGED TEAL, MOTTLED AND N.PINTAIL) The only shorebirds were both species of YELLOWLEGS plus the KILLDEER. Thousands of A. COOTS and plenty of C.GALLINULE and only 6 PURPLE SWAMPHENS. One SNAIL KITE was nice enough to flyby. 3 A. BITTERNS were nice enough to flush. I also didn't realize this was only open Sat, Sun and Mon - lucky me. The 1st section of STA3/4 when you enter from US27 was closed.
