If you want a better chance at having access to these SFWMD lands, make sure that you take the opportunity to provide comments during the SFWMD and COE planning process (draft EIS, etc). At one time Lucky Hammock was also within the footprint of the water retention area, and some of us lobbied to have this popular hammock as well as other tree islands exclued from these features.
