Morningside was fun this afternoon after school. It was made even better since I got there right after a big, long shower throughout most of the area. I spent little time there, but managed to find some good birds. A few large trees have fallen due to Frances around what I call "the migrant trap". The "trap" is a little area around the mangrove swamp in the park which seems to appeal to the largest amount of migrants (thrushes, vireos, and 18 warbler species have occured in this small area, including Prothonotary and Swainson's).
In "the trap":
Eastern Kingbird- 2
Great-crested Flycatcher- 1 (heard)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher- 5-6
Northern Parula- 2
Black-throated Warbler- 1 FOS
Prairie Warbler- 2-3
Black-and-white Warbler- 2
American Warbler- 10-15
Worm-eating Warbler- 1 or 2
Ovenbird- 1
Northern Waterthrush- 1

Elsewhere in Morningside:
Chimney Swifts- ~20
Swallows, swallows, swallows! Barn and Banks everywhere
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher- 3
Northern Parula- 1
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler- 3
American Redstart- 9
Ovenbird- 1

In Miami Shores (although I really didn't look hard):
Eastern Kingbird- 5
American Redstart- 2
Ovenbird- 1
