An immature Chestnut-sided Warbler was observed today with a mixed group of the more common warblers on the Tequesta Nature trail in the Bear Cut Preserve, Crandon Park. Also a small group of Blue-crowned Parakeets were in the hammock along with numerous White-crowned pigeons. Both Eastern and Gray Kingbirds were along the Osprey Nature Trail gorging themselves on the fruit of Poisonwood. The Crandon flats were very active with shorebirds featuring large groups of Black-bellied plovers, Semi's, Wilson's, Piping Plovers (8), and Short-billed Dowitchers (6). Mixed tern groups of Royal, Sandwich, Least and Common Terns(2)were also present. A great morning of birding was abruptly ended with tropical down pours.
