While birding Cape Florida today (1/14) I found a male Western Tanager. It was observed from the paved trail when heading south from No Name Harbor and just before the cut-through east to the nature trail and the gate. It is a bright colored male with quite a bit of orange on the head. The La Sagra's Flycatcher was heard near the southern end of the nature trail and 80 yards or more to the east. It called 4-5 times at 9am and again at 10:30am, however it remained elusive and out of sight. The Great Cormorant was at its favorite spot on the rocks by the lighthouse at 10:43am. Not a bad day!
