Warren,

I try to think of this morning's back-and-forth as a friendly discussion rather than an argument. :)

Some of us were interested in the striping (or lack thereof) on the throat rather than whether the eye stripe was yellow or white. Based on the difficult to see images on my camera's LCD screen, this bird appeared to have no striping at all on the throat. When I got home, I loaded the photos onto my computer and looked closely at all those of the Waterthrush. There was, indeed, no striping that I could see.

I then brought up Cornell's "All About Birds" web pages for

Northern Waterthrush:

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Northern_waterthrush/id/ac

and Louisiana Waterthrush:

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Louisiana_Waterthrush/id/ac

and checked their notes on field marks and I was convinced that it was a Louisiana.

Broad white eye-stripe extending to nape of neck; white, unstreaked throat; pink legs; very little, if any, yellow.

There are many very knowledgeable bird experts on this TAS site that can hopefully confirm or deny my ID. (I can vaguely remember posting about a Sora nesting at Loxahatchee last spring. These guys were quite gentle in responding that if it were, it would a first in history.)

Thanks for joining our walks. I look forward to seeing you there again.

And, I forgot to mention highlight number 4A -- your Bobcat in the Marsh. Great find!

Rick
