Palmetto Ridge High School (Pond in back of school) -- American Wigeon (x1), Ring-necked Duck (x40), Blue-winged Teal (x30)

Other nice birds seen at various places were Wood Stork, Anhinga, Double-crested Cormorant, all of the typical waders i.e. herons, ibis, egrets, etc. and the expected Red-shouldered Hawks, as well as both vultures, American Kestrel (ubiquitous), Common Gallinule, American Coot, Tree Swallows (many), Loggerhead Shrike, Common Grackle and American Crow.

We dipped on the Monk Parakeets at the Gulf Coast High School even though their nest is still intact. We also failed to find the small group of these birds at Palmetto Ridge high Scool. What is it about Monk Parakeets and high schools?
