The Kendall CBC was held on December 24, 2011. Our valiant participants, working in undermanned teams, enjoyed great weather and a fun day in the field. A total of 127 species were found; we also had 10 species of exotics and 1 Count Week species (Barn Owl). Highlights included TWO Western Tanagers (both photographed) and Rose-breasted Grosbeak, both new additions to the Count, plus Common Loon, Swainson s Hawk, 3 Wilson s Warblers, and 4 Horned Grebes

The 5 most common birds seen were, in order, White Ibis, Starling, Turkey Vulture Laughing Gull, and American Coot. Our overall numbers were comparable to prior counts.

A special thanks to all the participants, whose efforts were desperately needed (and hugely appreciated) this year:

Team Matheson (Jeff Weber, Joe Barros, Edith Einspruch)

Team Deering (Trey Mitchell)

Team Black Point (Roberto Torres)

Team Barnes (Carlos Sanchez, Robin Diaz)

Team Kendall (Steven Paez)
Team ZooMiami (Mike Perez, Ezequiel Bugallo)
Team Thompson (me)

Also thanks to Daria Feinstein for her contributions on macaws.
