While driving to work this morning, I saw a flock
of about 50-60 Yellow-Headed Parrots flying over the
intersection of Alhambra and Coral Way, in Coral
Gables. Amazons aren't a big deal, I know, but I
thought it unusual to see that many of this species
in one flock. I imagine one could see them again in the
evening at the same place, returning to their roost.
By the way, there are lots of manatees in the canal
that dead ends at Riviera Drive, across from the
Coral Gables High School athletic field. They are
fairly active, which is probably a manatee way of
showing disappointment that it's no warmer way up
the canal than it is in the Bay.
