You must have found an exotic something because there are not many birds smaller than a 4.5" Gnatcatcher. Rules out any warblers or vireos, bushtits don't have any wingbars, nor do the chickadees. Goldfinch might be too big. Mannakins don't have wingbars either. If you see it again, check out the bill.
