Molluskivorous Bluebird

I came across a male Eastern Bluebird eating a snail(!!)
last Saturday on the trail that runs north from Gate 2
on the Research Road in ENP. The bird was banded
(3 bands), so I presume it was one of those released in
the area. There were several other unbanded Bluebirds
in the vicinity, mostly females.

Also saw a light-phase Short-Tailed Hawk perched (!!!)
on a pine near the park entrance, just a short distance
from the ENP sign.
