I observed 300+ black-hooded parakeets in St Petersburg on12/16/11. Across from Targets on Park Street. This bird has been reported in Florida for over 40 yrs yet the ABA does not recognize it. I believe this bird altho "exotic" is replacing a niche carved out by Carolina Parakeets until they were killed off by farmers in 1904. I have asked ABA why they aren't added to ABA list. Anyone have any insites?
