This past week was "eventful." A mated pair of grey fox now patrol the grounds and more people are making the sightings. We believe we know the den site but the location is, awkward, so it stays a secret for now. Several people also witnessed a great horned owl fly-over at dusk this week. That species used to nest across the east canal years back but the subdivision obliterated the trees. Screech owls are heard nightly. Warblers are on the increase with yellow-rumped most common in the trees bordering all three canals. River otter are seen about three times a week and most commonly in the back northeast section along "canal street". Yes we now have signage thanks to some donors. Osprey are now common and the cormorants and anhingas are filling the Australian Pine roosts every evening.... their "burps" in the night are quite charming. Bet the wealthy homeowners under the trees don't think so.
