You can get to the Pinecrest area from the east side, but after that it is closed--at least it was 2 weeks ago. We talked with a Park Ranger at the barricade who said reopening would be sometime in the "dry season"(read February?). He told us you couldn't drive to Sweetwater Slough from the Monroe Station end.
