Duck in the driveway

So I as I am pulling into the driveway, I stop and say, "Is that a duck!". So now I have to park in the grass and as I approach the duck I see that it is a Scaup (lesser?). As I get closer, I wake her. She is able to walk, but with a possible limp, and does not fly. I decide to slowly push her along thinking that she will be better protected towards the corner but she does not want to be close to the vegetation. I let her rest and I as I start thinking about wildlife rescue, I again decide to push her to where I believe she will be safer. At that moment she takes off and flys as fast as a duck flys. Now I feel bad. This duck was surely injured. What was she doing in my backyard, on my driveway, far from water? I had Great Egret last week but this is a first for my yard list.

I hope the links below work for the pictures.
