"Mt. Everglades" is also known locally as "Mt. Schinus." It's actually a large debris pile of removed Brazilian Pepper (Schinus) that was cleared ~2004 from nearby restoration areas. It's also referred to as "Gate 15 Mound" and is a great place to bird in winter. Below is a link to TAS Birding Locations - Everglades National Park (Homestead Entrance) and scroll down to "Gate 15 (Ingraham Highway)". The mound offers good vantage points for nearby freshwater ponds and sawgrass prairie. A Google Earth map of the area will give you the layout of that area. Ingraham Highway is 11 miles long and Gate 15 is the start of the non-vehicular graded road.
