Conditions were different than those described by Morgan Churchill--later in the day, cool and overcast rather than hot and sunny. So it may be that they have taken to disappearing when the sun gets high. But, Morgan, I bet if you hit this place, and Markham Park, and the place Ken Schneider mentions, your chances would be good.
