A Ruddy Duck was also present in the vicinity of the Northern Pintails. A King Rail, Soras, and Purple Gallinule were also heard or seen.
I believe that the teal is a hybrid. I was able to observe the bird for thirty minutes today. The bird does have a prominent red eye, but from certain angles you can see a white crescent (as a male Blue-winged Teal would) around the face, as well as the white femoral patch that was mentioned on the brdbrains listserv recently.
