I've done very extensive research on the available literature in the last couple of days, and have spoken to all the premier experts on these species, and I've concluded that the best way to ID between the two species is location. There is a line, called the Pewee Demarcation Line, that runs north to south along central Texas. Every Pewee seen on the west side is a Western Wood-Pewee, every one seen on the east side is an Eastern Wood-Pewee. There, mystery solved! God I love expert opinion.

Now to tackle something easy: large, first-year gulls found among species that frequently hybridize.
