Michelle Davis, Mariel and I banded the bird you are talking about. Measurements were taken as well as photos. The measurements fell within the overlap range for both species. Pyle's subset on this species is somewhat small about 30 birds (I believe)and also notes that more measurements need to be taken on live birds. With these inconsistencies we are not able to confirm 100% that the bird was a Western Wood-Pewee. We are still waiting on feedback from other experienced banders including Peter Pyle.
I am not sure where this person gathered the information posted on ABA Rare Bird FB page but we still have the bird recorded as inconclusive for now.
