For those birders joining me for the TAS Shark Valley/Loop Road Field Trip on Saturday, November 12, 2011, my first stop will be the S-334 South Florida Water Management District structure just west of the Miccosukee Casino on the Tamiami Trail (US 41). I should be there by 6:30 a.m. My next stop is the Water Control Structure S-333 in Area 3B, the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area down to the airboat launching area.

As advertised on the TAS Walk Schedule, I will meet the group at 8:00 a.m. at the airboat concession on the north side of Tamiami Trail (US 41), one mile west of the Shark Valley entrance, bird Shark Valley and end the day on Loop Road at the Loop Road Education Center. There is an entrance fee to Shark Valley. Bring lunch, sun screen, mosquito repellent and plent of liquids.

This is from the Big Cypress N.W.R. website

10/19/2011 - Loop Road remains closed to vehicles south of the Gator Hook Trail area, and west of the Loop Road Education Center. The work on the gravel portion of the road is scheduled to be completed in late February 2012.

I have no one riding with me, so if you want to carpool from my house, near Miami International Airport in Virginia Gardens, I am leaving at 6:00 a.m. Please contact me if you are interested. I will be home by 3:30 p.m. to watch the UM/Florida State game at Woody's West End Tavern in Miami Springs.

The weather should be gorgeous. Hope to see y'all there. Life is good.......................
