Well the mosquitos outnumbered the birds around the Visitors' Center by 1,000 to 1 but were thankfully absent for our walk around the impoundments. There were no out-of-the-ordinary warblers today -- just the usual Palm, Prairie, Yellow-rumped, and Common Yellowthroat; lots of Eastern Phoebes (one pictured here) plus a single Great Crested; hundreds of Swallows -- both Tree and Northern Rough-winged; two separate fly-overs of Roseate Spoonbills; and a good variety of raptors -- Osprey, Northern Harrier, Cooper's, Red-shouldered, and Snail Kite.

It was nice to have both Snowy Egret and Loggerhead Shrike back as they were pretty much absent last season.

It was also very nice to have a group of 9 fun and knowledgeable birders for the second walk of the season.
