A very flooded Woodmont held a Wilson's Snipe (pointed out by Nancy Springer, who saw two a couple of days ago). Also a few common migrants and a posing Cooper's.
Then on an evening walk (7:30-8 PM) with Sandy, we saw a Burrowing Owl! Right on a front lawn; it flew up to a house gutter, where we approached it to within 15 feet before backing off. On a night walk about this time last year I scared up a bird off the pavement; based on similarity I now think that was a B owl too. I wonder if they are migrating, and if so where they could be going from here.
