Covered most of Quadrant 9 this morning for the Exotic Bird Count. Only had Monk Parakeets and Common Mynas. Also had 3 Red Junglefowls (chickenes) but don't know if they count. Carlos, my e-mail is not working properly but I will send the 1st filled-out forms soon.
While at the cemetery today had 2 Cooper's Hawks displaying to each other. They would raise white feathers in the rump area which made them seem like Harriers from a distance. There were also at least 30 Palm Warblers feeding together on the ground.
A Gray Kingbird is still hanging around my neighborhood. Also saw a Merlin soaring low with a long rope attached to its leg. Might have gotten away from someone. These past couple of days also had a Black-throated Blue Warbler and C. Yellowthroat (both males) crash against windows (at work and at a friend's house). Both birds were stunned for a while but eventually recovered and took off. Sadly I can only imagine how many die.
