I went to Cape Fl but did not get there till 11:45 a.m.. When I walked the main paved trail near the restaurant I saw groups of birds (30-40) in areas. Black-throated Blue Warblers dominated by far!. I saw 100-150. There were smaller numbers of American Red-starts, about 30-- Other birds were in smaller numbers 12-15 Oven Birds,20 Yellow-Rumped Warblers--one Bay-breasted Warbler, two Cape Mays, seven Black-and Whites(one was feeding on the ground!). I also saw one Yellow-billed Cuckoo, four Northern Parulas, many cardinals, one Merlin. The Black-throated Blues kept things hopping--I probably under estimated the number. I also saw up close a beautifully colored Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.Later, Joel was there and showed me a pic of what I believe is a Scarlet Tanager. Another birder reported a Blackburnian.Quite a few birds would feed on the ground(ones you don't usually see doing so.) I almost forgot the group of Palm Warblers(about fifteen.)I did notice that later on my way back down this same trail the numbers of birds had dropped dramatically.----It was fun!
