Eight of us participated in today's walk in South Dade. Although we started at the Coe's Visitor Center, a small contingent went to the missile base to search for the reported Say's Phoebe. It was not relocated today. We visited Lucky Hammock, The Annex, the 312 st. flycatcher spot, Castellow Hammock, Cutler Wetlands, and Dump Marsh. Our highlights were a Rose-breasted Grosbeak at the Annex, Swainson's and Short-tailed Hawks near Lucky Hammock, and Rufous Hummingbird at Castellow. Warblers included Parula, Yellow-throated, Black-throated Blue, Black-and-white, Prairie, Palm, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, and Redstart. Cutler Wetlands had Blue-winged Teal, one American Wigeon, a few Greater Yellowlegs, and lots of Coots. We had no sparrows anywhere.

Thanks to those we made it out. Sorry we didn't get a rarity, but we are hours away. I can feel it!
