Yesterday I drove down to the Cape Florida light to try for the Bananaquit. No love.
I did end up seeing something very interesting though- I was watching an Ovenbird foraging in the leaf litter immediately outside of the keeper's cottage when it grabbed something quite large, and immediately began to give it a violent shaking. When it stopped moving, I was surprised to see that it had captured a juvenile brown anole! It proceeded to gobble it down like it was no big deal. Has anyone else seen a warbler eating a vertebrate? I'd be very curious to hear your stories.
Cheers,
Sea
