What a find by Larry! We were excited to get the phone call from Larry about the Goose. We pulled up to the field where it had previously been seen and searched but, no goose. There were plenty of other birds around but the goose was a no show. Maybe the sun was in our eyes hiding the goose from view but luck has it a Jeep with big tires zapped past us flushing virtually every bird from the field. At first we were upset about the Jeep zooming past at such a high rate of speed, the tires were really loud on the pavement and in the wind. Just as I was going to give the driver the Johnny Cash finger we heard the goose honking then saw it flying north. We drove our car to the edge of the field where it had landed and watched it feed. While sitting in the car the goose flew east and landed close but continued to work its way even closer which is when we enjoyed killer looks and were able to film as well as photograph this awesome lifer!
Thanks again to Larry Manfredi for finding the goose.

We ran into Larry, Christine, Phillip and Kristen today as they were looking for the Bananaquit which was a no show for them. We heard the bird vocalizing for about 15-20 minutes just east of the lighthouse before getting fleeting views. As the bird flew in front of us we clearly saw the bold white supercilium as well as the yellow rump that contrasted against the black back and wings. The bird was headed west flying behind the lighthouse keeper s house. We did not see it stop nor were we able to relocate it for next hour before Larry and gang showed up, we spent another two hours searching with the group but no luck. Several Cape May Warblers were feeding on the flowering coconut trees, Bananaquit loves these flowers. A walk around the park paying close attention to the flowering coconut trees seems to be your best bet for seeing the bird if it persist. We will check on the bird again tomorrow afternoon and will report back our findings.
