Did a night patrol this evening in preparation for the bird show on Sunday at Hoechoka Hammock. Lo! Here comes a gray fox. Good looking animal trotting through the Garden area. Later I saw a cottontail rabbit and the raccoon family. Several years past I had the opportunity to experience a fox getting into a fight with a raccoon and the sounds they made were enough to put a Halloween scare into you. Maybe its time to break out the night scope and see what's moving and shaking there in the evening. We have a sand trap area that we rake every day to "read the signs" and we know we have otter, a canine or two, plenty of raccoons crossing the area at night.
