I birded for an hour this morning at a marsh due south of the large landfill in South Dade. From the Turnpike, take exit 9B (s.w. 112 ave north), go to s.w. 248 st. make a right turn and go east. I did not check the milage but go about 1 mile or more to the s.e corner of the large landfill. Park just before the hill in the road. On the South side of the road look for a dirt road that goes west along a canal. Look for a sign that says something like: Caution, please dismount before going through gate. Walk through the opening/gate west along the South side of the canal about a quarter mile and look for a marsh with a lake or pond. Early morning the lighting is best and a scope is helpfull. Below is a list of some of the birds seen.

Mottled Duck
Gadwall
Norhern Shoveler
Blue-winged Teal
Green-winged Teal
Ring-necked Duck
Lesser Scaup
Hooded Merganser

White Pelican
Two Sacred Ibis, these may be the same birds that have been seen for years in other areas around Dade.
Wood Stork
White Ibis
Lots of gulls, mostly Ring-billed, some Laughing, one or two Great Black-backed Gulls and Herring Gull.
Pied-billed Grebe
Lots of Coots
