Was so excited about Wednesday's (10/19) birding @ Cape Florida, that we came back today for more! The weather was comfortable and cool in the morning, 65-75, partly sunny with a light breeze. The birding was quite a bit slower than Wednesday with many fewer individuals and a reduced diversity of birds (35 species counted). For example, where we saw at least a hundred ovenbirds two days ago, today we saw less than 10. Catbird and palm warbler sightings (which were extremely abundant 2 days ago) were also down. Started at and around the lighthouse, continued down the paved path from No Name Harbor, and through the nature trail in the middle of the park. The highlight for us was a BANANAQUIT @ the lighthouse -- a first for us in Florida! Also found a Lincoln's Sparrow which I'm not sure how common they are around these parts?
