I did not intend to bird today, but couldn't resist a brief stop a Matheson. Only a few of the expected birds, but I did have a cooperative Philadelphia Vireo. I had meetings I couldn't miss at work, so I couldn't leave to chase the Kirtland's until later in the afternoon. In addition to the Kirtlands, there were a few other good birds around, including Bell's Vireo, Bay-breasted, Chestnut-sided, and Magnolia Warblers, and of course, Yellow-billed Cuckoos. While most migrations breaking 15 warbler species for the day is a task, seems all you have to do is get out these days and you'll get more than that. Epic to say the least. Here's my list for a day when I wasn't really birding:
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
White-eyed Vireo
Bell's Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Philadelphia
Tennessee Warbler
Northern Parula
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbller
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Kirtland's Warbler (sorry) KIRTLAND'S WARBLER!
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Bay-breasted Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Hooded Warbler
